In the higher education debate, the former vice-chancellors said, ”The opening of a university in Hachuva should be stopped.”

In the policy debate on the dimensions of higher education conducted by the education department of the ruling Nepali Congress, experts including the former vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University said that the government needs a clear blueprint for higher education.

In a debate held in Kathmandu on Monday, former Vice-Chancellor Kedar Bhakta Mathema said that the government has run the higher education on the back of the hands. He said that the number of universities is increasing without planning and need.

'Where, how many, what kind of university should be established', Mathema said, 'Nowadays, universities have started opening based on political lobbying.'

Former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Education Minister Raghuji Pant participated in the event.

"In the year 2049, when I was the Vice-Chancellor, the Act of University was made . At that time, attention was not paid to keeping the Board of Trustee model. Even now, the same law is in force. Now it should be taken to the board of trustees model,'' he said, 'Trivi has become too big . It was an allowance like it would take 10 years to reverse it . He argued that to keep the university away from the government and politics, it should go to the trustees. "The university should be away from the chaos of politics. Government and party should not interfere. "The university is a republic of scholars," he said.

He said that reform and quality education are possible only if the university is owned by the university's professors. The government's job is only to invest in universities. The experts conducting it  Yes,' said Mathema . The university also commented that the system of sharing relationships is dangerous. He suggested that it should be stopped.

Ambaraj Joshi, the former vice-chancellor of Sudurpaschim University, complained that the government intervened even if it meant autonomy. "The regulation of the university is also weak. Government interference should be stopped," he said. Joshi said that instead of relying only on the government, the university should also focus on raising investment.

"Economically strong countries have earned their own universities. Countries with weak economic conditions have lost money in higher education," he said. He said that money was lost when students went out for higher education from countries with weak economic conditions like Nepal. He suggested that Nepal's universities should reconsider the issues of teachers, curriculum, teaching style, evaluation system, academic calendar, student selection, degree awarding process.

In the same way, the former vice-chancellor of Trivia Tirtha Khanian commented that the government has not moved forward according to the education policy. He said that the education policy of 2076 has not been implemented. He said that the university is being established after it was said not to establish a random university in the education policy.

'A university has opened in Hachuwa. The college has been running for 30 years in accordance with the guidelines regarding foreign universities. So far, the law has not been made," he said. He alleged that the political leadership has arbitrarily spoiled higher education and universities.

RP Wichha, a member of the National Planning Commission, asserted that universities are established only to share relationships and become officials including the vice-chancellor. He suggests that such trend should be stopped. Academicians presented a working paper on the state of higher education in the policy debate program. Nainsingh Mahar, the head of the department, said that the Congress will decide the education policy by incorporating the suggestions of experts.
