A massive civil interaction was held in Ghorahi on Sunday regarding opening of Nepal Sanskrit University Central Office Belzhundi which has been locked for 5 months.

After several talks about opening the lock, civil society Dang held a discussion with the participation of university officials, political parties, student organizations, administration and other stakeholders. The political parties participating in the

program suggested that since there is no lasting solution to the lock problem, a solution should be found through dialogue and discussion. The student organizations had taken a stand that the lock could not be opened until the university was ready to meet the demand. Aneraswaviyu (revolutionaries), close to the Maoist center, has locked the main gate of the central office since December 12. Likewise, the office of the research center has been locked since February.

Administrative, financial and educational programs of the university are affected due to the lockdown. Since the lockdown, the staff and professors have not been paid. As the regular work of the university was affected, concern and interest increased everywhere.

After the lockdown, the university formed a negotiation committee under the coordination of the executive director of the National Center for Cultural Studies, German Chaudhary. The committee resigned within two months after not being able to open the lock. After that, a three-member negotiation committee was formed under the coordination of Professor Arjun Prasad Bhattarai. Associate professor Vinod Acharya and deputy administrator Anil Pokhrel are members of the committee.

Similarly, there are 6 points of demand, including that students who have transferred from Mithila Ayurveda Medical College and come to Central Ayurveda Vidyapeeth should be refunded the extra fees and should be provided to the students who get scholarships as per the rules.

The statement signed by Bishnu Chaudhary and Abhay Pratap Choubey of Aneraswaviyu Krantikari has been pasted and locked. Speaking at the interaction program, student leader Chaubey said that the lock could not be opened because the university was ready to meet the demand. 'Our demands are not the demands we have now. These are long-standing problems," he said. "Now the university must be ready to meet the demand. The lock cannot be opened without fulfilling the demand.'

After all-party and all-party discussions, an environment has been created to open the lock by immediately proceeding with talks, University Registrar Madhav Adhikari said. "Some of the demands, including the construction of a 100-bed hospital, have become difficult to fulfill because the university's resources are not possible," he said.

There have been many lockouts in the university before. After the lockdown started for a long time, the then Appellate Court Tulsipur issued an interim order on 12th June 2073 to prevent the lockdown in Nepal Sanskrit University. Student organizations have also promised not to lock down. Disobeying their own commitments and court orders, various student organizations are continuing with the lockdown.

The participants of the program expressed concern over the increasing practice of lockouts by various union organizations to fulfill their interests. In the program, the representatives of all the political parties and organizations active in the district expressed their concern about the deadlock of the university. The Vice Chancellor of the University Dhaneshwar Nepal, former Chairman of the Press Council Narayan Prasad Sharma, Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Lamsal, District Police Chief SP Arjun Prasad Timilsina and others participated in the program.

Nim Bahadur Thapa, President of Civil Society Dang, said that due to the prolonged lockdown in the university, a comprehensive discussion was organized to draw the attention of the stakeholders. The former president of the civil society, KB Mashal, presented a basic paper on the challenges of the university and ways to solve the problems.
