Gulmi's Kaligandaki rural municipality has requested the schools within the municipality to conduct compulsory schools from Sunday. By writing to all the schools on Friday, all the teachers have been requested to attend the Sunday school hours and conduct regular teaching.
The rural municipality has also instructed the teaching staff who are unable to attend at that time or on Sunday 14th of Chait to resign and move forward with the transfer process.
Bed Bahadur Thapa, chairman of the rural municipality of Kaligand, said that serious steps had to be taken as all the students had to go out. "In our school, we are running out of students," he said, "We have taken this step because there are no students."
The rural municipality has said that there was a problem in the schools within the municipality when the teachers were in a protest centered on Kathmandu at the call of the teachers federation. There are currently 43 community schools in Kaligand's rural municipality, Gulmi. In which there are 9 secondary and 34 basic schools . Agnidhar Parajuli, head of the education branch of the rural municipality, informed that a total of 337 teachers are working, including 138 teachers, 36 teachers, 36 teachers, 12 teachers, 8 technicians, 43 child development workers, 53 school staff and 11 teaching support teachers.
Due to teachers' movement, students of public schools have started going to institutional schools. According to the municipality, the student rate of those who go to the city from rural areas has also increased.
