Currently, a debate is going on in the educational field regarding the results of the written examination for the post of Deputy Professor of the University. Even though the authorities of the University defended the results, the quality of the University has been raised as the number of names is very low compared to the number of applications.
The reason is that not even 50 percent of the manpower could pass the exam conducted by the University. Only 34 percent have passed the written exam for the post of assistant professor of Tribhuvan University.
The number of people passing the written examination of the subjects under the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, Forestry and Institute of Science and Technology is very weak.
They have passed less than the quota demanded by the university . In which the number of demand posts in various subjects is 168, the number of participants is 767 and the number of passers is 58.
According to the results published by the University, only 5 out of 38 people who appeared in the exam have passed when there was a demand of 20 people in computer science. Similarly, in food technology, 5 people were included in the post number 5, but only one person has passed.
In mathematics, 104 people took the exam out of a demand of 20 people. But only 2 people managed to get the name . In climate science, the demand number is 2, out of 7 people who took the exam, only 1 person was able to get the name .
Similarly, there was a demand of 1 person on the subject of dietetics, and there was only 1 participant, but he also could not name them. There were 36 examinees participating in the demand for 15 posts in Statistics. When the exam results were published, only 2 names were selected by Trivi. In
zoology, there were 99 participants out of a demand of 20 people . In which only 7 people have named . In Food Science and Nutrition, there was a demand of one person and only one person participated and he took out the name .
Environmental Science with 4 candidates and 3 passed out of 24 participants, Biochemistry with 4 candidates and 5 participants passed zero, Geology with 6 candidates and 37 participants and 5 passes, Physics with 25 candidates and 175 participants and 3 passes, Microbiology with 2 candidates and 27 participants and 4 passes, Chemistry with 24 candidates and 128 participants and 9 passes and Botany with 19 candidates. Out of 80 participants, 15 people have selected their names.
The lowest is zero in the written examination of Dietetics and Biochemistry, while only 1/1 passed in Food Technology, Climate Science, Food Science and Nutrition.
Looking at the number of posts as required, the number of examinees participating in the examination and the number of passers, it shows that the condition of the skilled manpower in the leading educational institutions of the country is pathetic . Experts say that the situation of Nepal's oldest university shows the reality of the country's education system and results.
Is the university's examination system very strict?
Professor Ghanshyam Bhattarai, President of the Territorial Service Commission, said, "The examination could not be conducted earlier due to various reasons". However, when it was said that the exam would be held later, instead of studying for the exam, the students decided to postpone the exam. That's why the results did not come as expected.'
Bhattarai says that they understand that it is difficult for the students to take the exam because the passing percentage is only half. He said that because there were many general knowledge questions, the examinees could not cover all the questions.
He claims that it is not possible to say that the Tertiary Education Commission has a weakness in this matter. We are now working on improvements in this area. We are trying to create a new curriculum and improve our shortcomings, he said.
Similarly, Vice-Professor of Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Tribhuvan University. Sriram Poudel says that even though there is no participation of capable people in the examination for the post of professor held by Sri Ram Poudel University, the result is unexpected.
"Comparatively good and capable people may have passed because few people did not participate in the exam," Paudel said, "many people may have passed even if they did not participate in it."
Some people have seen the fault of the results in the university's examination system . The question has now been raised that the result may have been poor due to the quality of the question paper, errors in the evaluation of answer sheets.
