The resignation of 35 teachers of Kaski has been withdrawn. They resigned en masse on January 4 in protest against the retroactive provisions of Section 12 of Ordinance 2081, which was issued by the government to amend some Nepal Acts related to the promotion of good governance and public service delivery.
Education Development and Coordination Unit Kaski said that their resignation was withdrawn on Thursday. Teacher Kirtiraj Dhakal read out the letter of resignation in the thanksgiving and resignation program held in the office of the head of the unit. He said that since their movement was democratic, dignified and justified, the government was forced to amend the Ordinance Replacement Bill by clarifying that the clause would apply only from 1st May 2082.
He also thanked the Minister of Education, Science and Technology for continuing discussions and dialogue to meet the demands of teachers.
In the replacement bill, Section 9 Clause (A1) of the Pension Fund Act 2075, after 'Teacher Service', 'Explanation: The arrangement according to this clause will commence from 1st Baisakh 2082.' He submitted a written letter saying that he would accept the amendment.
Unit head Loknath Acharya, while accepting the letter of resignation, said that even though he was resigning in the protest program on January 4th, he said that the legitimate demands of the teachers should be met and he is happy that it has been done now.
Teacher Bhuvan Subedi said that since the government has corrected its mistake, they have also withdrawn their resignation and all the programs of the movement have been withdrawn for now.
