Shardanagar's Shahid Memorial College's Swaviyu President candidate wins
In one of the two campuses of Chitwan under Tribhuvan University (TRI), which was held on Tuesday for the Independent Student Union (SWAVIU), an independent candidate has won the presidency.
Similarly, in another campus, the candidate of Nepal Vidyarthi Sangh (Nevisangh) was elected president. An independent candidate has won the chairmanship at the Chitwan Engineering Campus of Trivi, Angik Campus, Rampur.
Prajjwal Adhikari, who ran as an independent candidate with the support of the All-Revolutionaries of the Union and the Maoists, was elected as the President of Swaviyu of Chitwan Engineering Campus. He has defeated Vishal Pokharel of Aneraswaviyu. All the votes were cast in that campus which has 132 voters. Electoral Officer Bhupendrajung Keshari Chand said that while the winning officer got 78 votes, Pokharel got 54 votes.
Similarly, Anish Thapa Magar of the Navy Sangh has won the presidency of Shahid Smarak College of Shardanagar, which is affiliated to the University. But Aneraswaviyu, which is close to UML, has protested against the voting in the college. "We would like to inform you that we have serious objections to the fact that our candidates were not included in any pre-voting process," Rakesh Gurung, president of the college committee of Aneraswawiyu, said in a statement.
Hari Acharya, Chitwan district president of Akhil, in a press release issued on Tuesday, has demanded to start the pre-voting process immediately after discussing with the student organization.
It has been announced on February 27 that Sarvassamata Swaviyu has been formed at Jan Adarsh Multipurpose Campus in Birendranagar. Nominations were not filed in four other colleges in Chitwan where elections were to be held. Due to the lockout of various student organizations in 11 colleges, despite the nominations, the voting that was supposed to be held on Tuesday could not take place.
