In 8 private campuses of Kathmandu valley, there has been an obstacle in the election of the independent student union.
In some campuses, the voter list has not been finalized, while in some campuses there has been a lockdown and disruption after the registration of candidatures. In most of the campuses that have been blocked, the campus election committees have informed that there is a strong internal influence of the ruling Congress close to the Congress.
Thapathali Engineering, Saraswati, Public Youth, Central Campus Kirtipur, Shankardev, Padmakanya, Nepal Law and Vishwabhasha Campus did not proceed according to the schedule of the election activities, said Pashupati Adhikari, member secretary of the Central Election Committee. He said that he is facilitating the blocked process.
Thapathali Engineering has been locked after nominations on Wednesday. Due to the dispute in Saraswati campus, the voter list is yet to be published . It is arranged that only after the finalization of the voter list, the process of candidacy registration will proceed. Public Youth candidature is yet to be registered. There has been a disruption after the registration of candidature in the central campus Kirtipur . There is another group of the Navy locked . Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba and another leader Shekhar Koirala have registered their candidacy in their own way. The voter list has not been published in Sankardev campus . The election committee has said that despite trying to register the candidacy, it was not successful. In Padyakanya, nomination efforts are continuing on Thursday. The organization has not been registered in Nepal Law Campus. There is a problem regarding voter registration in Vishwabhasha Campus .
The members of the election committee have also complained that the current officers of Swaviyu have obstructed the election process in the campuses where elections were held in the year 2079. If there is no election, there is a provision that the tenure of the SWAVIU can be extended up to 6 months . For the same reason, there are accusations that the current Swaviyu officials do not want to hold elections.
