Nepali Congress General Minister Gagan Thapa has said that unemployment has increased due to lack of educational programs as per market demand. He said that there is a demand in the market for a manpower, the current situation has come about because we cannot emphasize on practical education in the name of educating.
Thapa said this while laying the foundation stone of the proposed Adarsh Campus building in Pratappur Rural Municipality of Paschim Nawalparasi. The market is tough, it is looking for practical and skilled manpower. However, we could not emphasize on technical education," he said. "Unless there is technical education, job guarantee and attractive facilities, it is very difficult to stop the migration of young manpower abroad.
He said that even though 500,000 young people need employment in Nepal every year, the government will hardly provide employment to 20,000 and the rest will be handled by the private sector. For that, he said, the government should work towards creating an environment in which employment can be created in collaboration with the private sector.
Pratappur rural municipality is going to build a campus with 10-storey concrete building for the purpose of providing technical education in Semari. Umeshchandra Yadav, chairman of the rural municipality, said that for the estimated cost of 36.5 million, 5 million has been allocated in the current financial year.
