The government has appointed Om Prasad Baral as the vice-chairman of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).
Prithvisubba Gurung, Government Spokesperson and Communications and Information Technology Minister informed that Baral was appointed at the cabinet meeting held on Thursday.
The term of vice president in CTEVT is 4 years . Baral is a professor at Tribhuvan University. A native of Kaski, he has been teaching at Prithvi Narayan Campus and has also worked as a director in the Monitoring Directorate of Tertiary University.
The tenure of the then Vice President Khagendra Prasad Adhikari ended on June 1. After that, the Ministry of Education made a procedure and invited applications for the appointment of the vice president.
The Selection and Recommendation Committee of the National Planning Commission evaluated and recommended for appointment on the basis of plans and thinking papers along with personal details of 100 applicants.
CTEVT's supreme body council is chaired by the Minister of Education. The vice-president is expected to remain in its leadership for a full-time basis. The member secretary remains in the role of executive head.
