The Venezuelan government has stated that the death toll from the double devastating earthquake in Venezuela has reached four thousand.

Confirming that at least 4,118 people have died due to the earthquake that struck on June 24, Venezuelan parliamentary speaker Jorge Rodriguez announced via Telegram that 16,740 people have been injured and that all districts of the coastal state of La Guaira have been affected. According to him, as thousands more people are missing, search and rescue operations are ongoing.

However, rescue teams have indicated that there is no longer any hope of finding survivors, while family members continue to search the rubble for their loved ones in the hope of giving them a dignified burial.

Recently, Venezuela has been facing seismic risks, with reports stating that the prolonged economic crisis has seriously damaged state services.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has issued an immediate appeal for nearly 300 million dollars for earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela.

Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodriguez has called for the return of frozen assets held abroad.
