Iran has officially begun the public funeral of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday morning. State television said six days of public mourning would precede the funeral. Mourning rallies are also planned in Iraq during the period. AFP journalists at the scene said thousands of mourners had gathered in the courtyard of Tehran's Grand Mosque before Khamenei's casket was brought to the ceremony site. They chanted anti-American slogans and waved red banners, a symbol of revenge.
