At least seven people were killed in two separate roadside bombings in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said. Police said a private pickup truck carrying passengers was targeted with a remote-controlled "improvised explosive device." A second explosion also hit another vehicle being used to rescue the injured while they were being taken to hospital, causing further casualties. Three people were injured in both explosions. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks. But security officials said the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is active in the area. Pakistan has blamed the recent surge in attacks on its territory on militants operating from neighboring Afghanistan. The Taliban government in Kabul has denied that its territory is being used as a safe haven for the militant group. The two countries have also seen cross-border tensions and violent clashes in recent months.
