India is set to host the BRICS National Security Advisors' Meeting on June 22-23, 2026. The meeting will be chaired by India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Saturday. The meeting will see the National Security Advisors-Heads of Delegations of BRICS member countries exchange views on the traditional security challenges facing the world today. They will also discuss the rapidly evolving nature of national security challenges as well as the role of new technologies in emerging security threats. The National Security Advisors and Heads of Delegations will also review the outcomes of the recently concluded BRICS Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism and Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies. India previously chaired BRICS in 2012, 2016 and 2021 and will chair BRICS for the fourth time in 2026.

India's BRICS chairmanship is guided by the theme "Building for Recovery, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability", and reflects the people-centric and humanitarian vision expressed by Prime Minister Modi at the 2025 Rio Summit.

BRICS represents eleven major emerging market and developing countries of the world. These include Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

It will serve as a useful platform for consultation and cooperation on contemporary issues of global and regional importance and global political and economic issues.

The official website for BRICS 2026 has significantly expanded the BRICS agenda to include economic issues and preliminary issues of mutual interest.

It is structured around three main pillars: politics, security, economy, culture and people-to-people exchanges. The website states that BRICS cooperation is active in issues such as the fight against terrorism, climate change, food and energy security, international economic and financial conditions, telecommunications, agriculture, labor and employment, international financial architecture, trade and the World Trade Organization.
