US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) electronically to end the ongoing war between the US and Israel against Iran. According to Pakistan, the ‘Islamabad MoU’ has come into effect. According to US officials, the agreement includes provisions for Iran not to build or acquire nuclear weapons, to end the war on all fronts and to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai announced that the agreement with the United States has been finalized and has been electronically signed by both sides. According to him, the agreement has also come into effect.
A US-Iran agreement to extend the ceasefire between the two countries has been signed and is now in effect, a White House official confirmed.
President Trump formally signed the agreement, which includes provisions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, while attending the G-7 summit in France.
The 14-point agreement, known as the “memorandum of understanding,” states that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon. It also commits to setting up a $300 billion fund for Iran’s “reconstruction and economic development,” although the US will not necessarily contribute to it. The deal comes four months after the US, Iran and Israel began to clash.
The Trump administration has described the deal as a “performance-based” deal, meaning Iran will only benefit from it if it meets its commitments. However, the text of the agreement leaves many questions unanswered and many important issues remain unresolved.
