Pakistan, which has been playing the role of a mediator, has reached a peace agreement between the US and Iran. With this, there are signs that the war that has been going on in the Middle East for more than three months is moving towards an end. Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced the conclusion of a peace agreement between the US and Iran through social media, and informed that its formal signing ceremony will be held in Switzerland on Friday (June 19). US President Donald Trump has also confirmed that the agreement with Iran has been fully completed. In a statement issued on the occasion of his 80th birthday, he announced that the Strait of Hormuz will be completely opened to ship traffic and the naval blockade imposed by the US will be lifted immediately.

'I have authorized the operation of the Strait of Hormuz duty-free and the immediate lifting of the US naval blockade,' Trump said in the statement.

Following Trump's announcement, Iran also said that the new agreement with the US has ended the war between the two countries immediately. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said on state television that an immediate and permanent end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, had been declared.

Tehran had earlier warned of retaliation for Israel's attack on Iran-backed Hezbollah in a suburb of Beirut. The incident was expected to affect a potential deal.

But Prime Minister Sharif immediately announced the deal, thanking the US and Iran for seeking a diplomatic solution to the conflict. He said both sides had agreed to an immediate and permanent end to military action on all fronts, including Lebanon.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz congratulated the leaders of Iran and the United States, saying the agreement could pave the way for more comprehensive progress. "It could inject new energy into the global economy and pave the way for a more secure Middle East," he said. New Zealand's Foreign Minister Winston Peters expressed hope for the early implementation of the agreement, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He urged all parties to maintain positive momentum on social media, saying, "While the situation remains sensitive, this is a constructive step towards resolving decades-old challenges."
