Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that a peace deal has been reached between Iran and the US. He said that only the final signing of the agreement is left.

Earlier on Thursday, US President Donald Trump had claimed that the US and Iran would sign a peace deal within this week.

'We have made a good deal in the war with Iran,' Trump told reporters at the White House, 'As soon as the signing is done, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened. It will be very soon. An agreement could be reached in Europe this weekend.'

In a post on social media, Shahbaz said that Pakistan is talking to both sides. 'Peace has never been closer than now,' he said.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also said that a peace deal is close. He said that there will be a two-phase peace deal. He said that the first phase will stop the war and the second phase will be an agreement on various issues.

'In the first phase, the war will stop on all fronts, including the Israeli attack on Lebanon. There will be a commitment not to attack again,' he said. He claimed that discussions on Iran's nuclear program, sanctions relief, and plans to release Iran's frozen assets would be held in the second phase. He said that Iran and Oman's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz would remain intact and that it would be managed differently in the future. US Vice President JD Vance said that the agreement could play an important role in establishing long-term peace in West Asia. 'The Iranians will not receive any money. The frozen funds will not be released by the agreement or the meeting. This agreement has been prepared by prioritizing the interests of the United States and its allies. If Iran complies with the agreement, it will benefit economically and the entire region,' he wrote on the social network X. 'This agreement has the potential to rebuild the West Asia region and establish long-term peace.'
