US President Donald Trump has discussed a possible deal with Iran to extend the ceasefire and fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but has not yet made a final decision.

A senior US administration official said that no final conclusion had been reached on the issue after a two-hour meeting with national security advisers at the White House.

President Trump is reported to have expressed the view that the deal will only move forward if it addresses US security concerns and ensures that Iran's nuclear program is under control.

Earlier, it was reported that a preliminary agreement had been reached between US and Iranian representatives. The proposed agreement includes extending the current ceasefire for another 60 days and further talks on Iran's nuclear program.

President Trump believes that Iran must commit to not developing nuclear weapons in the future, keep the Strait of Hormuz open to international shipping, and remove explosive devices in the seaway.

Meanwhile, Iran's Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that trust can only be built through practical steps. He expressed the view that further progress would be possible only after concrete implementation by both sides.

Although talks between the US and Iran are ongoing, it appears that it will take some time for a final decision on a possible agreement.
