Oil prices rose more than 1 percent after Donald Trump said China was willing to buy oil from the United States.

Brent crude futures rose $1.17, or 1.11 percent, to $106.89 per barrel. Similarly, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures rose $1.10, or 1.09 percent, to $102.27 per barrel.

Oil prices also rose on concerns about attacks and seizures of ships in the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iran said on Thursday that about 30 ships had passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
