The US Department of Defense, Pentagon has signed new agreements with Google, OpenAI and XAI to increase the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The Pentagon seems to have increased the use of AI technology in its recent military and other defense activities. According to the news published on CNN, it has increased the preparation for the purchase of various AI services and systems from 8 major technology companies including Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Nvidia, Oracle and Reflex.

According to the statement released last week, the Pentagon will use Google's Gemini, OpenAI's models and XAI's Grok in various networks of defense systems. It is mentioned that these technologies will be used in wartime or for classification of complex data. It is said that the use of AI will be increased in other networks along with classified.

According to Reuters, Anthropic is not included in the US government's latest AI purchase. The US government has blacklisted the company after its use of the cloud in the Venezuela mission came under fire. However, the US government has said that it has used Anthropic's cloud in various military activities in the past few months.

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has stated that there is a policy to prioritize the use of AI in all areas of the US military. The US military's official AI platform, GenAI, has been successfully tested with services purchased from its own and large technology companies, and about 1.3 million employees are already using GenAI.

US President Donald Trump's son is involved in promoting Reflection AI, which raised $2 billion in investment last October alone, according to Reuters. In addition to these 8 companies, a separate contract for the purchase of US government AI services is also in place with Palantir Technology.

The US government has also increased spending on expanding AI technology. According to Reuters, the US has allocated about $13.4 billion for AI and automated systems in its 2026 defense budget. Media outlets have reported that up to $200 million has been allocated for contracts with large technology companies, and that some companies are preparing to take on more than one service.

Various media outlets have reported that countries including China, Russia, Israel, India, Japan, South Korea, and others are also preparing to rapidly use AI in defense systems.
