Speaking to the media after the voting, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that the TMC will form the government again and will win two-thirds of the seats.

The second and final phase of polling in West Bengal concluded on Wednesday. According to the Central Election Commission, 91.66 percent of the votes were cast in the second phase. The first phase had 93.19 percent. The total voter turnout in both phases was 92.47 percent in the West Bengal assembly elections 2026.
Apart from this, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry went to polls in a single phase on April 9, while Tamil Nadu also went to polls in a single phase on April 23.
This time, there are predictions of a tough fight between the Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal. Both the parties have claimed that they will get a majority.
Meanwhile, the exit polls for the elections here have also been made public. However, the exit polls in the previous assembly elections were wrong.
This is how the exit poll
There are 294 seats in the West Bengal Assembly. 148 seats are required for a majority. Out of the five exit polls Chanakya has claimed that TMC can win 130 to 140 seats. Similarly, BJP has said that 150 to 160, Congress zero and other parties 6 to 10 seats.
Similarly, People's Pulse has shown that Mamata Banerjee's party TMC will cross the majority. According to it, TMC will win 177 to 178 seats while Bhajan will reach 95 to 110. Similarly, Pulse claims that other parties will get up to 1 seat while Congress will get 1 to 3 seats. The Materize poll
has claimed that BJP will get a majority. According to him, BJP will get 146 to 161 seats and TMC will get 125 to 140 seats. Matterize claims that Congress will be limited to zero and other parties will get 6 to 10 seats. Another similar poll
P-Mark has limited TMC to 118 to 138 seats and BJP has been given 150 to 175 seats. Mark has also presented data that Congress will get zero seats and others will get 2 to 6 seats. Similarly,
JVC has given TMC 131 to 152 seats and BJP 138 to 159 seats. Congress has claimed that it will get 0 to 2 seats. 148 seats are required for a majority in the 294-seat Bengal Assembly. Talking to the media after the election, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that the TMC will form the government again and will get two-thirds of the seats. But according to exit polls, this time the entry of the BJP seems unlikely.
After the exit polls were made public, BJP leader Prem Shukla, speaking to news agency PTI, claimed that the results would be better than the exit polls. However, the exit polls are just an estimate. In the 2021 elections, the exit polls in West Bengal were proven wrong. Banerjee formed the government with two-thirds of the seats.
But this time it seems that there will be a contest. Even if the exit polls are not taken as a basis, the scenes seen at the ground level do not seem to make Mamata's party easier than in the previous elections.
