The US has intercepted an Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf, President Donald Trump said.
The president wrote on his Truth social media platform, “Today an Iranian-flagged ship attempted to breach the blockade, but it failed. The ship is 900 feet long and weighs about as much as an aircraft carrier.”
The US Central Command also released a video showing a naval vessel firing on the cargo ship.
There has been no immediate comment from Iran on the matter.
The incident came after the White House confirmed that US President J.D. Vance would lead a delegation to Pakistan for a second round of talks to end the war with Iran.
Tehran has not yet confirmed the talks. Iranian state media has said officials will not participate in the talks as long as the US sanctions remain in place.
