Iran is set to resume international flights from Mashhad airport in the country's northeast on Monday.

"Mashad airport has been allowed to operate international passenger flights," Iran's civil aviation authority said.

Iran's airports have been closed since the start of hostilities with Israel and the United States on February 28. Iran faced threats of more attacks on commercial tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, security monitors said.

Iran on Friday reversed a promise to reopen the waterway to commercial traffic during a ceasefire in the Middle East war, announcing a ban on any movement through it without permission. The route is a vital route for goods to and from the Middle East.
