The Iranian military said it had shot down two US fighter jets. One in the country's southwest and the other in the Strait of Hormuz. A spokesman for the Iranian military's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said on Friday that its air defense system had completely destroyed an F-15.

And, on Friday,

The Iranian military also claimed to have shot down another US A-10 in the Strait of Hormuz.  The New York Times, citing unidentified officials, said the A-10 pilot was safe after the crash. However, the condition of at least one of the F-15 crew members is still unknown.  US media reported that one member of the plane was found and rescued by the US military, but the other is still missing.

Iranian state media has released images of what appears to be the wreckage of an F-15 jet and an ejection seat with a parachute. After the jet was shot down, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf has taken a dig at Trump's repeated claims that the war has been won.

' After defeating Iran 37 times in a row, this 'strategy-less' great war they started has now been reduced from 'regime change' to 'Can someone find our pilot? Please?',' Ghalibaf wrote on social media.

US President Donald Trump told NBC News

on Friday that the downing of the plane would not affect the prospects for talks with Iran. 'No, absolutely not. No, this is a war. We are at war,' he said.

There has been no comment from the Pentagon or US Central Command about the downing of the fighter jet.
