Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Iran is not immediately interested in talks with the United States, following US President Donald Trump's stance.
Araghchi said in an interview with CBS's 'Face the Nation' broadcast on Sunday, "We see no reason to talk to the Americans, because while we were talking to them, they decided to attack us. Right now we are stable and strong. We are only defending our people."
He put it bluntly, "There is no good experience talking to the Americans."
Trump said on Saturday that the US wants a deal with Iran but is not ready to make a deal under the current terms.
"We have never asked for a ceasefire, and we have never asked for talks," Araghchi said.
He added, “Iran is ready to negotiate with countries that want to allow selected oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.”
“I can’t name any specific countries, but we have been approached by many countries that want safe passage for their ships,” he said.
