China has said it will provide $200,000 in aid to the parents of students killed in a missile attack on an Iranian school at the start of the Middle East war.
Iran has accused the US and Israel of attacking a school in southern Iran on the first day of the war. According to local media, at least 165 people killed in the attack have been buried. There has been no independent confirmation of the incident and the US military said it was investigating.
Beijing's foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiaqun said the attack on the school and children was a "serious violation" of international humanitarian law. "It violates the fundamentals of human conscience and morality," he said. "China stands ready to support the Iranian people at this difficult time."

The New York Times has published a report on a US military investigation into the mistaken attack of a US Tomahawk missile on a school. Israel has denied any involvement in the attack.
