The 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) prepared by the Chinese government has been approved by the 14th National People's Congress. The government had put forward this plan with the goal of promoting the country's economic and social development.

President Xi Jinping, along with senior party leaders and top state leaders, attended the final session of the annual meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday. The People's Congress is China's highest national legislative body.

The People's Congress voted on the adoption of the Environment and Environmental Code, Ethnic Unity, and National Development Planning Law, according to Chinese media outlet Global Times.

The People's Congress also approved the new budget. Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress Working Committee, delivered the closing speech at the meeting.
