Former US Secretary of State and Democratic Party leader Hillary Clinton has accused the US government of trying to hide important documents related to Epstein.
Hillary, who is in Berlin to attend the annual World Forum event, told BC , 'All the files need to be released. But they are moving slowly.'
The White House claims that the Donald Trump administration has done more for the victims than previous Democratic governments.
Hillary Clinton's husband and former US President Bill Clinton is also involved in the Epstein file case. The Clintons have said they are ready to testify before the parliamentary committee in this dispute. Bill Clinton will appear before the committee on February 27 and Hillary Clinton a day earlier.
This is the first time that any former president has testified before the parliamentary committee since Gerald Ford in 1983.
Bill Clinton, who has been mentioned many times in the Epstein file, has admitted to knowing him. But he claims that contact was cut off two decades ago. Epstein's victims have not filed any criminal charges against Clinton, and the Clintons have denied any knowledge of Epstein's abuse at the time.
The Clintons have asked to testify in a public hearing, rather than behind closed doors.
"We will be present, but we think it would be better if the hearing was public," Hillary told the BBC.
Republican lawmaker and House committee chairman James Comer recently accused the Clintons of "delaying" their testimony, suggesting they were running away from the charges.
"I want this process to be fair, to be fair to everyone," Hillary said. "We have nothing to hide. We have repeatedly demanded that all the files be released. We believe that sunlight is the best pesticide."
Hillary said she had only met Epstein's aide Ghislaine Maxwell "a few times."
President Trump, whose name has been mentioned hundreds of times in the Epstein dossier, has also claimed that he did nothing wrong with Epstein and that he cut off contact with him decades ago. Epstein's victims have not filed criminal charges against Trump either.
In a question to the BBC, Trump said, "I have nothing to hide. These files make me innocent. '
The US Department of Justice recently released millions of documents related to Epstein. The move came as part of the process of implementing the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which forced the department to release documents related to the investigation.
Although the Justice Department claims to have released all the documents, Republican lawmakers including Thomas Massie, who co-authored the act, say the work is still incomplete. He has also pressed for the release of internal memos from the investigation.
Epstein died mysteriously in a New York prison in 2019. He had already been convicted of sexual exploitation of minors. He was accused of taking young girls to luxury resorts in the Caribbean and engaging in sexual activities with high-profile people. The matter was investigated after the girls complained.
