US President Donald Trump said on Monday that his administration will seek $1 billion in damages from Harvard University. Trump also said that he will not do any further collaboration with Harvard in the future.

President Trump, writing on his social media platform Truth Social, has now filed a $1 billion lawsuit and said he no longer wants to work with Harvard University.

Trump administration officials have accused some prestigious colleges, including Harvard, of promoting the so-called “woke” ideology. According to them, the institutions failed to provide adequate security for Jewish students during pro-Palestinian protests. A legal complaint has been filed on the matter and an exorbitant payment has been demanded.

Critics have interpreted the move as an administration pressure campaign on liberal universities. Earlier, another Ivy League institution, Columbia University, agreed to pay the Trump administration $200 million last summer. Under the agreement, the university promised to follow rules that do not take race into account in admissions and hiring processes.

But the New York Times reported on Monday that the administration had rejected Harvard’s $200 million demand after lengthy negotiations. In September, President Trump told reporters that talks with Harvard were close to reaching a $500 million settlement. The potential deal reportedly included a proposal to open trade schools.

But in a post on Monday evening, Trump said that Harvard’s job training concept was rejected because it was complex and inadequate. He said the administration had concluded that the proposal would not work.

President Trump has accused Harvard of serious and egregious illegal acts in an attempt to get out of a cash settlement worth more than $500 million. However, he did not provide a clear description of what laws Harvard violated.

Meanwhile, another Ivy League institution, the University of Pennsylvania, announced last year that it would ban transgender women from participating in women’s sports after pressure from the Trump administration.
