Saudi Arabia's Anti-Corruption Authority (NAJA) has arrested 127 government employees on charges of corruption.

According to a public statement by the authority, they were arrested after conducting 1,543 monitoring and inspections at various government offices in late January. During this process, many complaints and evidence related to bribery and abuse of office were found.

Najaha has also initiated criminal and administrative investigations against 383 employees with the aim of increasing transparency in government agencies and controlling corruption.

The arrested employees are working in various ministries including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Municipality and Housing, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health. They have been accused mainly of accepting bribes and abusing their positions.

According to the authority, some of those arrested have been released on bail, while legal proceedings have been initiated against the rest.

Najaha has clarified that strict action will be taken against anyone who misuses public office and government property.
