The United States has approved large-scale arms sales to Israel and Saudi Arabia. The Trump administration has approved arms deals worth $6.67 billion for Israel and $9 billion for Saudi Arabia.
The US will provide Saudi Arabia with 730 Patriot missiles and related equipment, which will enhance regional air and missile defense capabilities. Israel will purchase armored vehicles, 30 Apache helicopters and 3,250 light tactical vehicles. The Apache helicopters and equipment cost $3.8 billion and the light tactical vehicles cost $1.98 billion. The US administration has said the sales will not adversely affect the regional military balance and will help both countries ensure the security of their borders and population centers. However, some US leaders have accused the deal of being rushed. The decision comes amid rising tensions and potential military activity in the Middle East. RSS/AP
