Army operation in Balochistan, at least 58 militants killed

At least 58 militants have been killed in an ongoing military operation in Balochistan, Pakistan, according to Pakistani media outlet Dawn.

Quoting various security sources, Dawn reported this information. Earlier, the provincial Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti had said that there were coordinated attacks at 12 places and the army had launched operations to foil them. At least 10 people were killed on the security forces side in the clashes.

Chief Minister Bugti said, ‘This morning, in an attempt to strengthen their declining morale, Fitna-al-Hindustan terrorists attempted attacks at several places.’ Which are being jointly foiled by the brave Balochistan police and the brave personnel of FC (Frontier Corps).’

He added, ‘These attacks cannot weaken our resolve against terrorism.’

State-run Radio Pakistan also quoted security sources as saying, “The search for the terrorists is still on in various places by the security forces.”

According to Dawn’s correspondent, mobile data services were suspended in Quetta, Sibi and Chaman areas for some time after the attack. Chief Minister Bugti also visited the site of the bomb blast in Quetta to review the security situation.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari praised the army for foiling several attacks.

He paid tribute to the security personnel and innocent civilians who were martyred during the operation.
