Six people were killed in a Saudi-led airstrike in Yemen's southern province of Al-Dhaliya on Wednesday.
The attack targeted the hometown of Aydar al-Zubaidi, the leader of the Southern Transitional Council (STC).
An official from the health department in al-Dhaliya said that six civilians were killed and 10 others were injured in an airstrike on a residential house in the Zubair area.
The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals. The STC has made it clear that serious dialogue is the best way to resolve the issues of the people of South Yemen and that it is responsibly involved in political initiatives.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by STC Secretary-General Abdul Rahman Jalal Saher al-Subahi has arrived in the Saudi capital Riyadh. However, STC leader al-Zubaidi is reported to have left for an unknown location instead of boarding a plane to attend the talks scheduled to be held in Riyadh.
Saudi-led military coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki said al-Zubaidi had been summoned to Riyadh for talks with Rashad al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council (PLC). On the other hand, PLC chairman al-Alimi has suspended al-Zubaidi from the council, accusing him of treason.
He has been accused of atrocities against the people of southern Yemen and misusing the southern issue. The STC, formed in 2017, has been demanding self-determination and independence for southern Yemen. Recently, the Saudi-backed forces and the STC have been at loggerheads over control of the oil-rich Hadramawt and al-Mahra provinces.
