Putin to spend 28 hours in India, grand welcome planned in Delhi

Russian President Vladimir Putin is arriving in Delhi on Thursday for a two-day visit to India. Putin will be in India for about 28 hours. This will be Putin's first visit to India since the war with Ukraine began in 2022.

Indian media outlets have reported that various agreements will be signed between the two countries on this occasion. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a special dinner for Putin on Thursday.  Putin had a private meeting with Modi for about four hours at his residence (Novo-Ogaryovo) outside Moscow in 2024. It is expected that Modi will also have a long talk with Putin at his residence on Thursday.

India and Russia have been organizing this summit alternately every year.   Putin has come to India at a time when the US is mediating to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. US President Trump has said that Putin is positive about ending the war. If the war ends, the Western world will  The economic sanctions imposed on Russia will gradually be lifted.  Meanwhile, US relations with India are deteriorating. The US has imposed a 50 percent tax on goods imported from India.
