The fire in Hong Kong has killed 128 people so far. Officials say about 200 people are missing in the fire.
The fire broke out in Wang Fook Court in northern Tai Po district on Wednesday. It is not yet clear how many people were inside the apartment complex when the fire broke out. According to the latest census report, about 4,600 people lived in the apartment complex.
The anti-corruption agency has launched an investigation into irregularities in the maintenance work being carried out at the building. Police say 11 people have been arrested so far on suspicion of careless dumping of liquids that could have caused the fire. CNN reported that some residents complained that fire alarms did not go off when the fire broke out and that they had to run from house to house to warn each other. It is the deadliest fire in Hong Kong since 1948. At least 135 people died at the time.
