At least 41 people have died in central Vietnam after days of torrential rain, local media reported, citing the BBC. More than 52,000 people have been left homeless in the incident. Nearly 500,000 families are without electricity.

Hoi An and Nha Trang are the worst-hit areas. Coffee-growing areas in the Central Highlands have also been affected. Earlier, due to the storm, farmers here were unable to import coffee on time. After damage to roads and infrastructure, the government declared a state of emergency in various areas and deployed rescue teams.

Vietnam has been hit by a series of disasters in recent months. Just a few weeks ago, two powerful storms wreaked havoc here.

The government estimates that the disasters that hit here between January and October have caused about $2 billion in damage.
