All government services and expenses have come to a standstill after failing to reach an agreement on the US federal appropriations bill, i.e. the budget.
According to the American media, the state of 'shutdown' has come after the budget, which was supposed to be passed by September 30, was not passed after the two parties of the US House could not reach an agreement on various issues related to the budget even until the last minute.
The shutdown will send nearly 800,000 federal workers home on unpaid leave as Republicans and Democrats continue to blame and sidestep each other. Similarly, nearly 2 million army personnel and essential service personnel will get their salaries only after the budget is passed . Due to this, the non-essential programs scheduled at this time along with national parks and museums will be closed, while social security, medical treatment and security-related activities will continue.
analysts have estimated the economic loss of such a shutdown to be around 300 million dollars . Earlier, there was a 35-day long shutdown at the end of 2018 when Donald Trump was the president.
