Ladakh violence: Four dead, 70 more injured, demand for full statehood

The ongoing movement demanding India's recognition of Ladakh as a state and its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule turned violent on Wednesday. In that violence, four people were killed and 70 people including 30 policemen and CRPF jawans were injured.

The Bharatiya Janata Party office in Ladakh has also been set on fire. The BJP has accused the Congress of being part of a dangerous conspiracy in the Ladakh violence. The Indian media has mentioned that the protests in Ladakh have been tried to appear as being run by 'Zen-G'.

Environmentalist and social activist Sonam Wangchuk's 15-day hunger strike has become violent after the protest. Speaking to the BBC, Wangchuk said he had ended his hunger strike after the violence in Leh, Ladakh on Wednesday. He has also appealed to the people to establish peace. 

According to Ladakh Deputy Governor Kavinder Gupta, curfew has been imposed in Leh district. The protestors have been demanding that Union Territory of Ladakh should be recognized as a full state and besides that it should be included in the sixth list of the constitution .  According to

news agency PTA, tear gas and baton charges were used to disperse the crowd. In some videos shared on social networks, several vehicles are seen burning and clashing.
