Former President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe has been arrested.

Hindustan Times mentions that he was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department, also known as CID. In 2023, government research officials at the London-based University of  He is accused of misusing government funds to attend the convocation ceremony of Mrs. Maithri Wickramasinghe, who is also a professor in Wolverhampton. 76-year-old Wickramasinghe defying Reuters that the police did not officially inform about the incident of arrest and Wickramasinghe's office also refused to respond to this
