The US Federal Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of the Trump administration and allowed the termination of the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) facility granted to about 60,000 immigrants.

With this order, about seven thousand Nepali immigrants who have gone to America and settled temporarily after the devastating earthquake of 2015 are at risk of deportation.

Since 1998, about 51,000 immigrants from Honduras and about 3,000 from Nicaragua have been temporarily residing in the United States under TPS. Their immigration status expires on September 8.

While suspending the protection order given earlier by the lower court, the Court of Appeal has set another date for further hearing. The Trump administration started the process of suspending the program saying that protection is not necessary because the situation in the respective countries is safe.

Now with the appeal order, the way to deport 7000 Nepali immigrants from Honduras and Nicaragua to their respective countries has been opened.

Immigrant rights activists have objected to the fact that Nepali, Honduran and Nicaraguan citizens who have been living in the US for decades have suddenly been made undocumented. Human rights activists have said that the future of immigrants' children will also be at risk with such a step.

The Trump administration has already ended TPS for millions of immigrants from Venezuela, Haiti, Ukraine, Afghanistan and Cameroon. ABC News mentions that this order will provide relief to the Trump administration, which has been trying to end the temporary security status for a long time.

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a temporary legal status granted by the US Department of Homeland Security to people who cannot return to the country due to a natural disaster, political instability or other dangerous situation. .
