Earlier in 2011, floods in Thailand killed more than 500 people and millions of houses were damaged.
Disaster management officials said on Saturday that six people have died and more than 230,000 people have been affected in Thailand due to floods and landslides caused by tropical storm Bifa since last month.
According to Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, heavy rains since July 21 have caused flooding in 12 provinces, most of them in the northern and central regions.
The agency is closely monitoring the impact of the storm and is coordinating with the provinces to provide necessary support to the affected, the agency said through the social network Facebook.
Photos posted on social media showed residents drowning in floods and using plastic boats on the roads.
However, the Meteorological Department of Thailand has predicted that the rain will decrease in the coming days.
Scientists have stated that human-made climate change is causing more seasonal changes and that the possibility of catastrophic floods has increased.
