Families and teachers gathered Tuesday after a training fighter jet crashed into a school in Bangladesh, killing 27 people, including 25 children and two others. This is the deadliest plane crash in decades.When the Chinese-made F-7 BJI aircraft crashed at Milestone School and College, most of the victimized students had just come out of class.
So far 27 people have died. Among them, 25 children and one pilot, Syedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, updated the death toll of 20 people and said, '78 people are being treated in various hospitals.'
The army has said that it is investigating the cause of the injury of more than 170 people in the accident.
The normally busy school was eerily quiet on Tuesday morning, with classes cancelled .
"The school has lost its life along with the children", Shahadat Hossain, a 45-year-old teacher whose son barely survived the accident, said, "There are two swings in front of the affected building". Children play there at lunch time and after school. The students were in that swing at the time of the plane crash yesterday too.' About seven thousand students are enrolled in
school. Among them, Abul Bashar's sixth grade son and his best friend were killed. "He only went out two or three minutes before the accident", Bashar said.
Children's trauma
School officials have collected the children's bags, shoes and identity cards from the scene.
Armed forces personnel are still clearing the area The remains of the fighter jet have been removed, but they are still searching the site for evidence.
"I don't know how long it will take for the children to get back to normal," said Hossein.

The Bangladeshi army said that the pilot, Flight Lieutenant Taukeer Islam, was on a routine training mission when the jet encountered a mechanical problem. The army said on Monday that Lt. Islam tried to move the plane away from a densely populated area but "despite his best efforts".
