By June 2025, China had 161.1 million Internet users aged 60 and over, and 322 million lived in rural areas. Internet access in these groups has reached 52 percent and 69.2 percent respectively.
Meanwhile, the continued development of the Internet in China has played an important role in promoting Chinese culture domestically and internationally, the report said, exemplifying the growing synergy between popular web series and related tourism destinations, as well as the growing export of Chinese online literature and games.
