Indirect talks between Israel and Hamas regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages are set to begin on Sunday in Qatar's capital, Doha, local time.

Negotiations are about to start before the departure of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to America. It is said that he will go to Washington for a meeting with US President Donald Trump on Monday.

Qatar is mediating the ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas. Netanyahu said that the negotiating team on behalf of Israel will reach Doha on Sunday. However, he noted that the US-backed cease-fire proposal contained "unacceptable demands" made by Hamas.

According to a Palestinian official, talks to begin in Doha will focus on the terms of a possible cease-fire, the exchange of hostages and prisoners, and the reopening of Gaza's Rafah crossing. On behalf of Hamas, the negotiation team led by senior leader Khalil al-Hayya has reached Doha. Earlier, Netanyahu discussed the situation in Gaza and regional diplomatic relations with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

According to the proposed 60-day ceasefire proposal, during which time Hamas will return 10 living hostages and some hostage bodies, while Israel will also release some Palestinian prisoners . Hamas also mentions in the proposal the partial return of Israeli soldiers held hostage. It is said that Hamas has put forward the demand that Israel will not attack again during the ceasefire period and that the United Nations food distribution system should be re-implemented.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in Gaza is getting worse by the day. Locals are forced to live under severe food shortage. Karima Al-Ras from Khan Yunis in southern Gaza said, "The local civilians are dying for flour, we are hoping for a ceasefire to be announced." The United Nations Human Rights Office has mentioned that more than five hundred civilians have died during food distribution so far. According to the United Nations, more than 57,400 people have lost their lives in Gaza in this 21-month-long war. It is hoped that progress will be made towards a lasting ceasefire from the Doha talks. However, it is said that serious differences between the two sides still persist.

Houthi group's missile attack on Israel

Sana- Yemen's Houthi armed group launched a 'hypersonic ballistic missile' attack on Israel on Sunday morning and it is said that the Israeli defense system managed to stop it . The Houthis have been supporting the Palestinians and attacking Israel.

Houthi, an armed group active in the northern part of Yemen, has been fighting for its territorial rights and political independence in Yemen for a long time. Since 2014, they have rebelled against the government, taking control of Yemen's capital, Sana'a, and many other parts. Yemen has been mired in civil war for a long time after the Saudi Arabia-led coalition launched a military intervention to defeat the Houthis, which has led to a serious humanitarian crisis.

In a statement broadcast on al-Masirah TV run by the Houthis, the spokesman of the Houthi army, Yahya Saria, said that the missile was targeted at Israel's Ben Gurion Airport . He claimed that the missile attack had temporarily disrupted air traffic in Israel and that civilians had gone to shelters for safety . The Houthis have been attacking Israel since November 2023, while they have been supporting the Palestinians in the Gaza crisis.
