The death toll from the collapse of the Lyari building in Karachi, Pakistan has reached 19. Rescue officials have confirmed that three more bodies were found in the rubble on Saturday afternoon.
The devastating incident took place when a five-storey residential building collapsed in Baghdadi area of Lyari, Karachi.
Rescue officials said nine people, including five women, were rescued with injuries and are being treated.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has confirmed that the bodies of 19 people have been removed from the rubble, according to ARY News. Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Mayor of Karachi, said that it is estimated that around 20 to 25 people are trapped in the debris and the rescue operation of those who are still buried is going on.
The city chief said, 'Rescue work is still going on . Crews will continue to work until they are sure no one else is trapped in the wreckage .'
