At least 64 people have died and 117 people have been injured due to heavy rains and sudden floods in Pakistan for the past one week, according to government agencies.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the worst damage occurred in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 23 people, including 10 children, were reported dead.

According to local media, 14 people were said to have been swept away by the floods that occurred in Swat Valley alone last week.

21 people have lost their lives, including 11 children, due to house collapses and floods in East Punjab province.

15 people have died in southern Sindh province and five people have also died in southwestern Balochistan.

Pakistan's Climate Forecasting Department has asked everyone to be cautious saying that the risk of heavy rains and floods still remains till Saturday.

Earlier, at least 32 people died due to severe storms and lightning in Pakistan last month.

Pakistan is one of those countries in the world, which is directly affected by climate change.

The devastating monsoon floods in 2022 inundated one-third of the country and killed nearly 1,700 people.
