At least 13 civilians were killed and 21 injured in an attack by the Paramilitary Support Forces (RSF) on El Faser, the capital of Western Sudan's North Darfur state, according to a volunteer group.
The Sudanese Doctors Network, a volunteer group, said in a statement that three children were killed when the RSF attacked El Faser on Friday.
Calling on both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF to implement a ceasefire, it said the attack and tight siege on the city directly targeted thousands of children, women and the elderly.
Meanwhile, the resistance committee in El Faser said in a statement that the explosions and attacks by the El Faser RSF have added to the tension in the residential area. In the
statement, as a result of the incident, many unarmed civilians including women and children have died and dozens have been seriously injured.
Some of the injured have been taken to the city's main hospital, which is currently facing a critical shortage of medicine and medical supplies.
RSF may 2024 has been disrupting El Fasser since, including daily shelling and intense urban fighting involving both the RSF and the SAF.
El Faser is the main administrative center for the Darfur region and the capital of Darfur State, which is outside RSF control.
