Iraq's Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA) has concluded that the latest security situation is satisfactory and has announced the re-opening of air routes for international flights.

In a statement issued by the authority on Tuesday morning, it said that this decision was made after a comprehensive assessment of security and coordination with national and international stakeholders. . According to the chairman of the authority, Bangin Rekarni, the current security situation in Iraq is reliable enough for air operations. He said, 'With the reopening of the air route, it is believed that the geographical importance of Iraq will be strengthened, which will increase the role of Iraq as a safe and short route connecting the East and the West. Also, it will reduce the time and fuel cost of global flights.'

Iraq had previously temporarily closed the air route for international flights due to possible risks after the Israel-Iran conflict that started on June 13.

Currently, based on the safety assessment, the authority has decided to bring the air route back into operation, saying that there has been positive improvement.
