The 'black box' of the crashed Air India plane has been found in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. On Friday afternoon, India's Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjrapu informed that the black box of the plane had been found.
Minister Naidu has written on X, 'Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AIIB) has found the flight data recorder (black box) from the crash site in Ahmedabad within 28 hours . This is an important step in accident investigation. This will greatly help in the investigation of the incident.'
On Thursday afternoon, an Air India plane carrying 230 passengers and 12 employees reached Bajarin at the hostel of a nearby medical college after taking off from the runway. There were 12 'cabin crew' members including 2 pilots and 230 passengers. 169 of them are Indians. Similarly, Air India said that there are 53 passengers from the UK, 7 passengers from Portugal and 1 passenger from Canada. All the passengers have died except the British citizen Vishwas Kumar Ramesh on the ship. Former Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani also died in the plane crash.
The importance of the 'black box' in the plane crash
The black box is considered important in finding the cause of the plane crash . The black box contains 'Flight Data Record' and 'Cockpit Voice Record' . The black box contains 2 hours of conversations and voice recordings prior to the crash and up to 25 hours of flight information.
This black box is built to be safe no matter what kind of accident the plane is in. Based on the conversations or voices recorded in it, the cause of the plane crash can be traced. The sound of the engine and emergency signals along with the conversation in the cockpit recorded in the black box can be used to understand the state of the ship at the time of the accident. Apart from that, the conversation of the ship's pilot and co-pilot is also known from the black box.
The black box has two recorders. First, the flight data recorder (FDR) records the flight data of the aircraft, while the second, the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) records the voice from the conversations between the pilots in the cockpit.
The color of the black box is not black. It is orange in color so that it can be easily identified and seen from a distance if the plane crashes. It was first manufactured in Australia in 1953.
