On Monday morning, the Israeli army seized a boat carrying relief materials including medicine, baby milk, and food, which was going to Gaza. Climate activist Greta Thunberg and 12 volunteers were on board. This incident happened at a time when Israel is tightening the blockade on Gaza due to the war with Hamas.

According to AP news, activists including Thunberg set out on a boat trip to deliver relief materials in protest against the ongoing Israeli attack on Gaza and the suspension of humanitarian aid. The campaign was organized by 'Freedom Flosilla Coalition'. After being captured by Israeli forces, the coalition said they had been kidnapped.  

"We have been abducted by the Israeli army," AP wrote, quoting a statement from the Coalition, "The army illegally seized our boat, abducted unarmed civilians." Necessary relief materials like baby milk, food and medicines have been confiscated.' 

The coalition has protested the Israeli intervention, saying that the army seized their boat while it was in international waters about 200 kilometers from Gaza.  The Israeli Foreign Ministry called the trip a 'publicity stunt' and wrote on Xma (Twitter), 'The celebrity selfie boat is now safely approaching Israeli shores.'

According to the ministry, all the activists will be returned to their countries and relief materials will be sent to Gaza by appropriate means . The spokesman of the Israeli army, Lieutenant Colonel Nodav Shoshani, informed that the boat is coming towards Israel and will arrive at the port of Ashdod. The picture of the soldiers giving sandwiches and water to the passengers has also been released.

Climate activist Thunberg with 12 people on board, the boat named 'Maudline' left Sicily a week ago . The boat rescued four migrants on Thursday. Thunberg said in a pre-recorded message released after the boat was seized, 'I urge my friends, family and all colleagues to put pressure on the Swedish government to release us soon.'
