At least 31 people were killed and dozens were injured when people who were going to collect food for distribution as relief were fired upon in Gaza Strip.

The Associated Press quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the Israeli army opened fire. But the Israeli army issued a brief statement and said, 'We have no information about any injuries from the firing of the Israeli army at the humanitarian aid distribution site. This matter is currently under investigation.'

Al Jazeera has mentioned that at least 39 people died in the incident. International media reported that those aid distribution centers are located in areas under Israeli military control and others have poor access there.

The scene is in Rafah, in the southern and central part of Gaza. Hamas has demanded some changes in the cease-fire agreement proposed by the US. But Steve Wittkoff, the US special envoy for the Middle East, said the group's response was not acceptable. In this background, it seems that there will be more humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Only on Friday, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid under the United Nations said that the most serious crisis has occurred in Gaza so far. Since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, the 20-month-long war has displaced a large number of civilians, while constant bombings have created malnutrition.
